The Lebanon Food Compost program is FREE to Plainfield residents!
Lebanon Food Waste Drop-Off Program
The Lebanon Solid Waste Facility offers a Food Waste Drop-Off Program. Your food scraps will be composted and used onsite for erosion control. This activity helps avoid the use of virgin soil products and has a huge benefit on landfill capacity. Starting in 2023, it is free for households! The Lebanon link is here.
How to Join the Food Waste Program
To participate in the food waste program, please follow these simple steps.
1. Obtain a solid waste permit.
If you are a Lebanon resident, or a resident of an authorized participating community (Plainfield is a participating community), and do not have a solid waste permit, please complete the process to obtain a Lebanon Solid Waste Permit. This permit is free and available at the Plainfield Town Office for Plainfield Residents. If you already have a solid waste permit, please proceed to step two.
2. Start diverting your food scraps!
Bring your food scraps to the solid waste facility and show your permit to the attendant. Place your food scraps in the blue dumpster pictured below, make sure to only bring compostable materials and make sure they are bagged in either paper or compostable plastic bags. Please look over the Food Scraps and Soiled Paper brochure for details.
